Stéphanie Machabée is a PhD Candidate in Religious Studies at Yale University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the intersection of collective remembering, cultural heritage-making, religion, and conflict, and her dissertation uses the Rotunda in Thessaloniki, Greece and Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey as her two cases studies for exploring these themes. In the future, Stéphanie hopes to focus on policy that addresses some of the distinct preservation and management challenges presented by religious heritage.
